ABC News’ Terry Moran Should Be Fired, Not Suspended

While many Americans were spending this past weekend with family and friends, ABC News’ Terry Moran was having a full-blown social media meltdown about the Trump administration.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, the Disney-owned network’s senior national correspondent let loose a deranged X post attacking President Trump and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. Leaving little doubt as to where his political affiliations lie, the so-called “journalist” largely homed in on Miller, whom he labeled as a “world-class hater.”
“The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism. Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy. But that’s not what’s interesting about Miller,” wrote Moran in the now-unavailable post. “It’s not brains. It’s bile. Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater.”
The ABC correspondent went on to argue that anyone “can just see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.” He ended his screed by taking a shot at Trump, dubbing the president a “world-class hater” whose “hatred [is] only a means to an end, and that end his his own glorification.”
“That’s his spiritual nourishment,” Moran added.
The moronic temper tantrum prompted ABC News to suspend Moran later that day, “pending further evaluation.”
But there’s no need for “further evaluation.” Moran demonstrated a fireable act of misconduct that exposed his true feelings about key figures within the Trump administration. His tweet wasn’t a partisan critique on policy matters, but a full-blown personal attack against Miller and the president — two of the many individuals within the White House he’s supposed to cover with “impartiality” and “objectivity,” as ABC News laughingly characterized its “news” coverage.
But make no mistake. This incident was hardly the first in which Moran has showcased his inability to set aside his clear support for Democrats to perform his job in a truthful and nonpartisan manner.
Recall Moran’s bid to run interference for the Biden crime family after Hunter Biden was found guilty last year on three federal gun charges — all of which were wiped away following an unprecedented pardon from Papa Joe. Rather than inform ABC viewers of the extensive Biden family corruption, Moran attempted to downplay the charges and cast the Bidens as victims in the ordeal.
“This trial inside the courtroom, like virtually every criminal trial, was a personal story. A personal tragedy. A family tragedy. And the guilty verdicts that the jury has handed down on Hunter Biden were verdicts not just on his conduct under law, but on his collapse into drug addiction and the consequences of it,” Moran said. “So many American families understand that. Now, the first family has gone through it as well. The political consequences of it may be tempered by the fact that this is a scourge that has touched so many American families, even the president’s.”
In spring 2022, Moran went on an unhinged, pro-abortion tirade during an exchange with a member of the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List. Following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade later that year, he echoed baseless claims that women “will die because of” the high court’s ruling.
While discussing Trump’s influence on the Republican Party in February 2021, Moran compared the president to “a Caesar” and “a führer.” The suspended ABC correspondent would later go on to use similar assassination-prep-style rhetoric when discussing Trump during the 2024 campaign, saying, “Sometimes you see in other countries, an authoritarian figure, maybe who has crossed the line of legality.”
Contrast those characterizations with how Moran described President Barack Obama in 2009, comparing the Illinois Democrat to former President George Washington.
Moran’s obvious disdain for Trump and Republicans is a trait shared by many of his ABC colleagues. Despite its claims to the contrary, the Disney-owned network has a long rap sheet of acting as the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.
Suspending Moran for his Miller meltdown is just the mildest form of punishment ABC News could have handed down while half-heartedly displaying a pretense of professionalism. Any self-professed “news” organization with the slightest ounce of integrity would’ve fired him on the spot and shamed him into never daring to show his face in the industry again.
Then again, that’s asking ABC and their hacktastic counterparts to possess the morals and decency required to have a free press in America — qualities they are clearly lacking.
