Jesus' Coming Back

Dolly Parton Says Her New Song about God’s Warning Came to Her in a Dream

Famed Country singer Dolly Parton recently released a song that she says God gave to her in a dream. She released the song on her 77th birthday.

“I got up, I started writing this song over a period of weeks, months,” Parton shared in an Instagram video on Jan. 19th.

“I finished it as things would come to me, and I just felt like I should drop it on my birthday. So, I hope you enjoy it,” she added.

Parton says the new single, “Don’t Make Me Have to Come Down There,” came to her in a dream. She added that the song’s message was given to her by God.

“It’s a song that came to me in a dream, and I felt like it was worth putting out there,” she added. “Something special. Well, it’s special to me.”

“Last night I had a dream about God/ He was standing on a mountain top/ Looking down, around in such dismay,” she sang. “And in my dream, I heard Him say/Don’t make me have to come down there/My children, you had best beware/If you don’t pay attention, consequences will be dire/Don’t make me have to come down there.”

Although it was her birthday, Parton said instead of receiving gifts, she wanted to give back to others this year by releasing the song.

According to The Christian Post, Parton has won multiple awards throughout her decades-long country music career, including being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999.

She was also named one of People magazine’s “People of the Year” in 2021, but she says she does not want to be idolized. The country singer also lamented that people worship celebrities more than God.

During an interview with People, Parton said that generosity should be done without seeking praise in return.

Parton has often been outspoken about her Christian faith, including having a grandfather who was a Pentecostal preacher.
