Fundamentalist Christian Family Takes Trip To See Hoover Darn

CLARK COUNTY, NV—The Hendersons may have chosen to homeschool their children from the time they were 2 years old, but that doesn’t mean their little ones don’t get to participate in real school experiences like field trips.

For this semester’s trip, Adam, Mary, and Esther Henderson are getting the amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the legendary Hoover Darn.

Completed in 1936, the Hoover Darn (originally named the Boulder Darn) is a wonder of modern architecture, and the perfect means by which Janice Henderson can show her children the hubris of mankind.

“This semester, we’re studying the Tower of Babel from Genesis 11,” says Henderson, who left her job as a stay-at-home wife several years ago in order to school her children. “Nothing in our hometown of Searchlight, Nevada could quite match the Hoover Darn in terms of sheer defiance of the Lord’s will,” the mother and teacher added.

Next semester, the Hendersons are set to study the Book of Revelation, and Janice has in mind an overseas trip to the “Gates of Heck,” a continuously burning gas crater located near Dervaza, in Turkmenistan’s Karakum desert.
