TAMPA BAY, FL – Mistaking The Weeknd’s performance for a Kansas City Chiefs player, Super Bowl referees have penalized the half-time performer.
The Canadian singer was mistaken likely due to his shiny red blazer while he sung, and was struck with a yellow penalty marker while performing his hit “Blinding Lights.”
“Delay of Game, player with microphone, defence,” said head referee Carl Cheffers to a crowd of booing cardboard cutouts. “5 yard penalty, first down.”
