CBC Gem to crack down on password sharing as soon as anyone signs up for a paid account

TORONTO – As cracks down on people sharing passwords in order to boost its revenue has announced that it too will stop all of its paid Premium Account members from sharing their password just as soon as someone signs up for the service.

“Like our American counterpart Netflix we have also made the difficult decision to prevent people who pay for our platform from sharing their password,” said President Catherine Tait. “We’d like to apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this might cause once they decide to become customers.”

“Should be any day now.”

For just 4.99 a month customers get ad-free access to shockingly good programming from Sort Of to multiple Alan Partridge seasons without having to sit through endless ads for Honda Civics and the CBC itself for some reason. But that hasn’t been enough to persuade a single Canadian to cough up the money.

“No ! Ugh. I guess now when I google an award winning British series and find out it’s on Gem I’ll briefly think about signing up for a paid account even less,” said Danielle McCabe.

“Although if the grammar nightmares about that ‘it’s not how Canadian you are it’s who you are in Canada” ad keep happening while I try watch Luther, I may change my mind,” she added.

At press time we attempted to sign up for CBC Gem Premium as an experiment and the site immediately crashed.
