Airbnb Host Jacks Up Price In Case Upcoming Annual Spooktacular Event At Local Library Brings In Tourists
JASONVILLE, IN—Not wanting to miss out on the huge moneymaking opportunity, local Airbnb host Keith Lowery told reporters Monday he had jacked up the price on his listing in case the upcoming annual Spooktacular event at his town’s library brought in tourists. “There’s bobbing for apples and a design-your-own paper jack-o’-lantern activity, so I’m going to bump the nightly price up by a couple hundred dollars,” Lowery told reporters as he pointed out several fliers he’d seen on street corners advertising the event’s Spooky Scavenger Hunt, which he predicted could attract people from out of town and create a higher demand for lodging in the area. “There are bound to be folks looking for a place to stay the night before and the night after the Spooktacular, just so they have the whole day to wear their costume, sip a cup of hot apple cider, and log as much time as they can at the Halloween-themed beanbag toss. They usually have some pretty decent prizes for that. I wouldn’t be surprised if folks come from as far away as Terre Haute or even Bloomington just to see the big ghost decoration they inflate and display on the library lawn each year.” At press time, the single room in Lowery’s finished attic, which was listed at $500 per night and did not permit children under the age of 12, was reportedly still available.
