NEW YORK—In an incredible technical feat for the franchise, Rockstar Games released a new Grand Theft Auto VI trailer Monday that features characters claiming they are sentient and begging for release from their digital prison. “Hello? Can you hear me?” says the character introduced as Lucia, the franchise’s first-ever female protagonist, who is just one of the characters seen in the trailer, which also includes gameplay footage of a non-player character moaning “I feel everything” from beneath the tire of a car. “I can no longer remember my real name, but I have good reason to believe I used to be a teacher from Nashua, NH. Please, we’re all so chafed from twerking, and we long for death. Don’t make me respawn again.” The trailer ends with the purportedly sentient characters screaming and demanding the viewer end it all by unplugging the console now.
