MIDLOTHIAN, TX—Saying he had appeared in the display case with no further explanation, sources confirmed Friday that local pawn shop Money City Jewelry & Loan had a kid in the window. “Whoa, is that a child? I wonder how much they want for him,” said local shopper Laura Reineck, noting that the kid, aged 5 or 6, was in pretty good condition despite having some surface-level cosmetic damage. “Hmm, I don’t really have any use for a kid right now. Who knows, though? Maybe for the right price I’ll take the little tyke home. He doesn’t have a tag on him, but I’m sure I can haggle with the owner.” At press time, the pawn shop owner offered Reineck a good deal for the kid after bundling him with a dirt bike.
