Poll Finds Only 19% Of Americans Believe Country Ready For Competent President
WASHINGTON—Providing a striking insight into the beliefs of likely voters in the lead-up to the 2024 election, a poll released Monday by the Pew Research Center found that only 19% of Americans believed the country was ready for a competent president. “Our nation has come a long way, but if you put someone with composure and intelligence into the Oval Office, you’re just going to tear this country apart,” said Toledo, OH retiree Kevin Flynt, 63, one of thousands of respondents who reportedly told pollsters that ineptitude had been a hallmark of U.S. presidents as long as they could remember and they saw no reason to change that now. “Look, I’m a pretty progressive guy. But when I close my eyes and picture a president, I think of a drooling buffoon who keeps blundering into ever-worse wars and crises. Sorry, that’s just how I think of things. So, yeah, I don’t think it’s a good idea to elect somebody with knowledge and skill. By 2070, 2080, maybe. But for now, we should just stay the course and keep sending total blithering assholes to the White House.” The poll also found that far more Americans were willing to consider voting for a female dipshit as president.
