Caitlin Clark Announces She’s Leaving Iowa Basketball For Drama Club
IOWA CITY, IA—Revealing that the “gut-wrenching” decision had taken months to make, 22-year-old Caitlin Clark announced Monday that she would be leaving the University of Iowa’s basketball program for drama club. “Although these past four years playing for this team have been amazing, I know in my heart I belong in the theater,” said the all-time leading scorer in NCAA basketball history, adding that while she loved her coaches, teammates, and fans, she’d never be able to forgive herself if she didn’t at least try to follow her true passion and audition for this year’s spring musical. “While I love being a point guard, it’s always been a dream of mine to get up on stage to sing and dance alongside my amazing, talented classmates. I’d even take a part that only had a line or two. Plus, this year we’re doing Oklahoma! It’s going to be so much fun!” At press time, Clark had dropped out of drama club after being cast in a nonspeaking role as a tree because she was tall.
