Father And Son Enjoy Annual Tradition Of Saying They Should Attend Spring Training One Day
BALTIMORE—Excitedly pulling out their Orioles jerseys and beat-up baseball mitts from the black of the closet, a local father and his son reportedly engaged Monday in their annual tradition of saying they should attend spring training one day. “One of these days, we’ll take a trip down south for spring training—just you and me,” said Mark Tuttle, who placed a hand on the shoulder of his now-grown son Ben as they smiled at each other nearly 1,000 miles away from their team’s spring-training home in Sarasota, FL, continuing a decades-long tradition handed down from Mark’s father. “I love that even though you no longer live at home, we still make time to talk about doing this every year. I can almost feel that Florida sunshine on my face right now, even though neither of us has ever stepped foot in the state. Hell, I haven’t been outside Maryland since 1983. But that would be fun, right? Someday.” Tuttle went on to deliver the same joke that he shared every spring about the pros probably asking him and his son for some pointers, thus concluding the only conversation the two would have all year.
