Evan Gershkovich Given Final Warning About Return-To-Office Mandate
NEW YORK—Scolding the journalist for failing to follow the guidelines clearly outlined in its employee handbook, The Wall Street Journal reportedly sent Evan Gershkovich his final warning Friday about the company’s return-to-office mandate. “Evan, as we have alerted you numerous times, all Wall Street Journal employees have been required to work in office since 2022,” read the email sent from the media company’s human resources department, which stated that if the journalist had not returned to his desk by Monday morning, he would be terminated for failing to comply. “Our records indicate that you have not swiped your key fob in more than a year. We are highly concerned about your lack of productivity as well as the fact that you have ignored all our messages on Slack. Don’t you know we’re better together?” At press time, Gershkovich had lost his job in the newspaper’s latest round of layoffs.
