In Lieu Of Raise, Pastor Given A Generous 3 Extra Hours Of Vacation

ST. LOUIS, MO — A local pastor’s quality of life saw a dramatic improvement this week, as he was informed by the church board that in lieu of a raise, he would be generously given three extra hours of vacation this year.

The board broke the news to Pastor Sam Bradley following their weekly meeting, in which they considered his salary in comparison to inflation and the increased cost of living, bringing them to the conclusion that they could make things easier for his family by graciously giving him a few more hours of vacation time.

“This really makes a big difference!” Pastor Bradley said after hearing the news. “I mean, everything is twice as expensive these days and I was already only making a meager living even before prices started to go crazy, but these three extra hours of vacation will be a life-changer.”

The board said they were happy to bless the pastor in such a generous way. “He does so much, it was time for us to give a little back,” said board member Ted Levins. “So much of his time during the week is spent counseling people, making hospital visits, and preparing to minister on Sunday, he deserves a few hours of time off during the calendar year as a reward. We do ask, however, that Pastor Bradley not use all three hours at one time. Can’t leave the ship without a captain for too long!”

At publishing time, the church board was also considering no longer requiring Pastor Bradley to pay for the communion crackers out of his own pocket.
