Coworker Asks If Woman Interested In Reliving Childhood Trauma On Work Volleyball Team
IOWA CITY, IA—Framing the offer as an enriching opportunity for exercise and a fun change of pace, area marketing manager Kyle Sanchez asked Thursday if his coworker Brittany Price might be interested in reliving her childhood trauma on their work volleyball team. “Hey, we’re looking for a few more people for the team—would you be up for reliving some of your worst memories from sixth grade with us?” said Sanchez, weighing Price’s interest in being transported back to the moment her father screamed at her from the sidelines after she missed a serve in front of all the other girls on her middle school team. “It’s pretty fun. You get a free T-shirt and the chance to revisit a lot of formative traumatic memories involving your pubescent body: your first sports bra, changing in front of everyone in the locker room, being exposed as the last girl in your grade to start shaving your legs, even getting your period through a pair of gym shorts. Last year we got third place in the league and won a gift card.” At press time, Sanchez added that the team’s tradition of postgame drinks would offer Price an opportunity to relive the intense social anxiety of her first high school house party.
