OTTAWA – leader has terminated his party’s confidence and supply agreement with the , boldy staking a claim to independence a few days after told him to.

“For two years Canadians have seen us as the Liberals’ little brother. Their yes-men,” said Singh. “But now they know we are a proud, independent political party who will do anything to avoid being called out by a Conservative leader who is clearly trying to manipulate us into calling an early .”

“And if that election results in a right-wing government that destroys the dental care and pharmacare programs we built, then it will have been well worth it for people to stop making fun of me on twitter!”

But now that the NDP is on its own Poilievre won’t be able to make those arguments, unless of course he is a bad faith actor that says things that benefit him even if they aren’t true.

“Arguably I am throwing away the most political power my party has had in a generation. But on the plus side Poilievre can never call me Sellout Singh again!” said Singh.

At press time Poilievre was still calling him Sellout Singh.
