EDEN — The local man who had been given dominion over the earth reportedly attempted to raise the temperature in the garden this week, as Adam cunningly yet casually suggested to his wife, Eve, that she try a shorter haircut.
Adam made the inference during an otherwise nondescript conversation with Eve about how perfect the weather was in the garden every day and what type of fruit and vegetable salad they would have for lunch, mentioning in passing that she might try changing things up with a shorter hairstyle.
“I think it would look great, honey,” Adam said to his wife. “You have really beautiful… collarbones. It’s a shame to have them covered up by your long hair all the time. Your hair is super versatile anyway. You can totally go short. Maybe not like super duper short, like a dude, but, you know… something just, like… above the shoulders. That would be perfect. You should try it. Just so I can see. See how it looks on you, I mean.”
Eve expressed uncertainty about making such a drastic change. “I don’t know, I’ve always worn my hair long and down like this,” she said. “He seemed pretty persistent that I should at least give a shorter haircut a try. Weirdly persistent, even. Almost as persistent as he got that one time when he wanted us to have a picnic in the really windy area of the garden.”
At publishing time, Adam offered Eve a compromise by asking her to just wear her hair in a stylish updo.
