Jumping The Shark? Hallmark Releases Christmas Movie SET IN SPACE
U.S. — Concerns have arisen that the Hallmark Channel has finally exhausted its supply of movie plots after the network announced A Celestial Christmas, a Christmas love story set in outer space.
The film will reportedly follow an astronaut who reconnects with an old flame, a world-famous expert in moon rocks. The two are sent on a secret mission to the moon’s deepest craters to recover special rocks that could cure the astronaut’s dog of cancer. When the mission goes awry, the two are left fighting to save the rocks, their lives — and their love.
“Love is about to have lift-off,” said Hallmark producer Dan Allen in a press release. “What do two star-crossed lovers do when they no longer have even gravity holding them together? It’s going to be out of this world!”
While some fans welcomed news of the upcoming release, many expressed open concern that perhaps this was a sign that Hallmark was running on empty. “From orbit, she can finally see that love makes the world go round? I don’t know about this,” said longtime fan Jessica Denton. “We may have reached the edge of the Hallmark galaxy, if you take my meaning.”
At publishing time, the Hallmark Channel had announced its next release Love In Ashes set inside an actively erupting volcano.
