In Effort To Boost Ticket Sales, Disney Edits Rachel Zegler Out Of ‘Snow White’

BURBANK, CA — In an effort to boost ticket sales for what it suspected could be a disappointing opening, Disney announced that it had taken the unusual step of editing Rachel Zegler out of Snow White.
The film had been drowning in negative press from the get-go, with executives wanting to make the seven dwarfs more diverse and pushing for Zegler to be cast in the lead role. Word of mouth and focus group testing made it clear that the studio needed to cut the star out of the film.
“We’ve found that audiences respond much more positively to the movie without her in it,” said director Mark Webb. “I’ve never released a cut of a film with the lead actress erased from it, but considering the controversy, we think it’s for the best.”
In the final film, Zegler has been digitally removed from every frame, with only her dress remaining. Several scenes where she was previously singing and dancing are now just a dress silently twirling around on set, seemingly hypnotizing the dwarfs.
“We weren’t sure about the idea when we initially came up with it, but honestly, it kind of fixes everything,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said. “You can’t complain about an actor’s performance or political views if they’ve been erased from existence.”
At publishing time, the now-retitled Disney’s Snow White, Starring Nobody had broken industry pre-sale ticket records for the month of March.
