Ghost Of Pete Rose Bets On Hall Of Fame Induction

COOPERSTOWN, NY — In a shocking new report, a team of amateur ghost hunters working near the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum caught the ghost of Pete Rose placing bets on his Hall of Fame induction.

The ghost hunters made use of a specialized EVP recorder, which they say picked up a recording of Rose’s spectral form placing the bet with a ghost bookie. “I….[unintelligible]….need the money,” the spirit appeared to say on the recording.

The ghost of Pete Rose reportedly placed bets on when he would be inducted into the Hall of Fame, as well as what notable public figures might be in attendance at such an event. The ghost was allegedly betting on induction by the year 2030 with 50-to-1 odds.

“This remarkable find serves as definitive proof of the existence of an afterlife,” said MLB commissioner Rob Manfred. “On the other hand, it also proves Pete Rose has not moved on from his gambling habits, even in death. Therefore, I’m afraid I must once again ban Pete Rose’s ghost from induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.”

Rose remains the all-time MLB record holder for most career hits at a remarkable 4,256, surpassing Ty Cobb’s previous record of 4,189 hits. Though Cobb was never found to have gambled on baseball and has been in the Hall of Fame since 1936, paranormal investigators have speculated that Cobb’s ghost may be directly betting against Rose’s ghost.

At publishing time, Heaven announced that Pete Rose’s continued gambling habit as a ghost had also rendered him ineligible for the Heaven Hall of Fame.
