Man Holds Off On Reading Bible So As Not To Ruin Suspense Of ‘Passion Of The Christ’ Sequel

RUIDOSO, NM — Local man Pete Blanton has decided to refrain from reading the Bible so as not to dampen the excitement of watching the Passion of the Christ sequel.

“I don’t want to ruin the surprise,” said Blanton, putting the Bible back on his shelf. “Honestly, having seen the first one, I don’t know how they’re making a sequel. The ending of the first one seemed pretty final. The story was kind of wrapped up, honestly. There really weren’t any loose ends.”

Though Blanton had considered cracking open Holy Scripture, he was dissuaded by recent news that Mel Gibson was making significant progress on the sequel. “Eh, I can hold out for another year,” said Blanton. “My friends keep saying that the book is better than the movies, but I don’t know. Plus, I really want to go in with a clean slate for the sequel.”

At publishing time, Blanton’s curiosity had been especially piqued by news that Jim Caviezel would be returning in the new film.
